MyStatus.co.za is committed to making this website, including our SASSA/SRD information pages and optional live status-check tools, accessible and usable for as many people as possible.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We aim to improve readability, navigation, form usability, and access to important grant-related information over time.
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
We aim to ensure that users, including people with disabilities, can access, understand, and navigate the information provided on MyStatus.co.za.
This includes users who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, zoom tools, mobile devices, assistive technologies, simplified language, or clear page structure to understand SASSA/SRD-related information.
MyStatus.co.za is an independent information website and is not affiliated with SASSA, DSD, ITSAA, or any South African government body.
2. Accessibility Features
MyStatus.co.za is designed with accessibility and usability in mind, including:
- Clear and readable text with reasonable contrast.
- Logical heading structure to support screen readers and page navigation.
- Responsive design for mobile, tablet, and desktop screens.
- Plain-language explanations where possible.
- Descriptive links and buttons where practical.
- Structured lists, tables, sections, and headings to help users scan information.
- Keyboard-friendly navigation where reasonably possible.
- Form labels for input fields where forms are used.
3. Live SRD Status-Check Tool Accessibility
MyStatus.co.za may provide an optional live SRD status-check tool that allows users to request an SRD status result by entering their South African ID number and SRD application phone number.
We aim to make this tool usable by providing labelled fields, clear button text, visible loading messages, visible error messages, and readable result sections.
If the live tool does not work well with your device, browser, assistive technology, connection, or accessibility setup, you can use the official SRD portal directly: srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status.
The live tool depends on the SASSA public-facing status service/API. If that service is down, slow, changed, blocked, or returning errors, our tool may also be unavailable or unable to return a result.
4. Forms, Error Messages, and Results
Where MyStatus.co.za uses forms or interactive tools, we aim to make fields, buttons, validation messages, loading messages, and result displays clear and understandable.
Some form or result behaviour may depend on browser support, JavaScript, device settings, security tools, caching, or third-party service availability.
If an error message is unclear, a form cannot be completed, or a result display is difficult to read, please contact us so we can review the issue.
5. Accessibility Standards
We aim to follow generally accepted accessibility practices, including principles from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), where reasonably possible.
MyStatus.co.za does not claim formal accessibility certification. We use accessibility guidelines as a practical reference to improve usability, clarity, structure, and access to information.
6. Assistive Technology Compatibility
This website is intended to be usable with commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers, keyboard navigation tools, browser zoom, mobile accessibility features, and other device-level accessibility settings.
Performance may vary depending on the browser, device, operating system, assistive technology, connection quality, and whether JavaScript or cookies are enabled.
7. Known Limitations
While we strive to make content and tools accessible, some areas may not yet fully meet every accessibility standard.
Known or possible limitations may include:
- Third-party advertisements or embedded services that are not fully controlled by MyStatus.co.za.
- External official portals that may have their own accessibility limitations.
- Interactive tool behaviour that may vary by browser, device, connection, or assistive technology.
- Older content that may need future formatting or structure improvements.
- Tables or long pages that may be easier to use on larger screens, although we aim to make them responsive.
8. External Websites and Official Portals
MyStatus.co.za links to external websites, including official SASSA/SRD portals and other government-related websites. We do not control the accessibility, design, availability, security, or technical behaviour of external websites.
If you experience accessibility issues on an official portal, you may need to contact the relevant official service provider directly.
9. Feedback and Support
If you experience difficulty accessing content, using the live tool, reading a result, navigating a page, or understanding an error message on MyStatus.co.za, please let us know.
When reporting an accessibility issue, it helps to include the page URL, your device type, browser, and a short description of what did not work.
